Are you looking for new ways to get your children or students excited about learning?
Thanks to advances in technology, teachers around the world are now able to share their tried and true methods which work extremely well to get their students learning.
Today we’ll take a look at one of those methods, and it is the use of “Interactive Notebook Pages”, which we also refer to as “Foldables”
Interactive notebook pages takes learning to another level. In a typical classroom setting where a teacher may dictate information and then assign questions for students to answer, interactive notebook pages adds a layer on top of that which allows the students to use more of their senses to dig into the content further.
Let’s look at a specific example of how a foldable works when studying Bahamas Emancipation.
This is an important topic and you want your students to understand it fully. Along with discussing the topic and assigning questions for the students to answer, you can also include a foldable activity.
For any foldable activity, each student would need;
–a pair of scissors

–a bottle of glue or a glue stick

–crayons or crayon pencils

–a notebook or loose page

This particular foldable has images which represent important aspects on the topic. Students would begin by coloring the graphics.

Next, they would cut out the entire template along the solid lines.

Then cut the flaps to separate each image (making sure not to cut too deeply into the center title strip).

Fold the flaps back to the dotted line and glue the back of the sheet making sure to only place glue in the center part.

Glue the template onto the loose page or into the notebook.

The student can now write a sentence below each flap explaining what they understand about the picture.

A Communication Tool
As you can see, these foldables are a great way to communicate with young and older students. It gives the teacher, parent and child a clear visual idea of how much the child have understood and what they are lacking in.
Creative Expression
The interactive notebook pages expand the child’s mind in a creative and fun manner.
Working with their hands coloring, cutting, gluing and writing encourages visual learning and helps children to remember the material in their own way.
Easy Exam Review
During exams and revision time, these pages come in handy. Since students are able to quickly flip through the specific subject’s notebook and revise comfortably for the exams.
If you’re interested in trying out this type of interactive learning resource check out our elearning marketplace where we have lots of foldables on different topics in science and Bahamian Social Studies.
The resource I used in this article can be found here Bahamas Emancipation Foldable.
Each page comes with predesigned graphics around the topic, instructional steps and a digital copy so that you can print and use as many times as you need to in your classroom or home environment.
By using these interactive pages students can accomplish a lot more and teachers can help to make learning fun for them. They are an exciting modern way for children to learn, providing hours of engagement, discussion, creativity and fun time for children to learn and understand.
Do you think interactive notebook pages can improve your learning environment? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
This is awesome work. Please share this site with friends and family.
